When I got sick with candida a couple of years ago, I started to use essential oils to help me fight off some of the symptoms.

I enjoyed many of the oils so much that I started to use them for a wide variety of uses each day. Not all men are comfortable using essential oils, and that’s fine. I don’t think you should be ashamed of using them – manly, men use essential oils and that’s a fact.

Add a comment below if you are a manly man that loves to use essential oil.

Before I continue with this post, be aware that essential oils in their natural undiluted state can be very potent and should be used with caution. It’s crucial to consult a doctor if you have any concerning health conditions, and always make sure you are careful using essential oils around children.

With that out of the way, that’s get right into it.

Ways Men Can Use Essential Oils?

There are several ways that a man can use essential oils effectively which impacts their daily life. Here are ways that I use essential oils each day:

  • I create an essential oil cologne
  • I use essential oils to help me sleep at night
  • I use essential oils for my sinus problems, or for fighting a cold
  • I use essential oils for my sore, achy muscles
  • I use essential oils with a diffuser for an office or room deodorizer
  • Make an essential oil anti-stress blend

Essential oils are a great natural way to replace the products that we use every day. It’s safe, smells great, and has several health benefits.

I love diffusing essential oils at my desk.

Let’s look more closely at how I use essential oils and examples on how you can implement essential oils into your life.

Manly Essential Oils

There are several great manly smelling oils that you can use. Below is a list of essential oils that are more common with men because of their woodsy, masculine scent.

Manly Citrus Scents â€“ petitgrain, sweet orange, tangerine, bergamot, grapefruit, lemon, lime, mandarin

Rugged Floral Scents– basil, cajeput, carrot seed, clary sage, coriander, eucalyptus (globulus, lemon, smithii), lavender, lemongrass, oregano, palmarosa, peppermint, rosemary, sage, tea tree, thyme

Subtle Base Scents â€“ copaiba basalm, frankincense, myrrh, oakmoss, Oakwood, patchouli, Peru basalm, sandalwood, vanilla, vetiver

Intense Spice Scents â€“ allspice, anise, black pepper, cardamom, cinnamon leaf (use leaf instead of bark for all topical applications, cinnamon bark is too irritating to put on the skin), clove bud, ginger, nutmeg

Forest Scents â€“ black spruce, cedarwood (atlas, Virginian), cypress, fir needle, juniper berry, pine

How I Use Essential Oils Each Day

I use essential oils every day.

Here are several ways I add essential oils into my life. These are just a few simple suggestions that, as a man, I think you’ll appreciate.

I do encourage you to use the comment section below, and tell me how you use essential oils in your life. I would love to hear what you have to say to this conversation.

  • I create an essential oil cologne

Blending together a couple of the popular essential oils for men, you can create a really nice cologne. Using a 10 ml spray bottle to mix your oils, add the following:

  • 10 drops Cardamom essential oil
  • 3 drops Vetiver essential oil
  • 3 drops Ylang Ylang essential oil

The smell is wonderfully light and woodsy. It will make you smell like a real outdoorsman, that’s for sure. I love it.

Give this blend a try and see what you think Hey! It’s a lot cheaper than the top brand colognes out there. It’s also beneficial to your skin and body.

  • I use essential oils to help me sleep

If you have a hard time getting sleep or find it difficult to relax, then give lavender a try. Use lavender in a diffuser at night or add a couple of drops on your pillow. Yeah, I know – it’s floral and not manly. Who cares. lol. It works!

If essential oils are not your thing, then maybe you’d be interested in a lavender pillow. Lavender infused pillows are all the rage today. With a lavender scented pillow you’ll find that it doesn’t just aid with falling asleep, but it provides a richer, deeper sleep. I’ve done some research for you, and found the best product available on Amazon. Check it out here.

You could instead try a 2 Inch Lavender infused Memory Foam Mattress topper for your bed. This brings both comfort and the benefits of lavender right on your bed. Click on the link to head over to Amazon and see the best price.

  • I use essential oils For a natural sinus fighter

If you struggle with sinus problems, then don’t be ashamed to use essential oils to bring you some relief.

Essential oils are a lifesaver for me.

I would be up a creek without a paddle if it were not for peppermint and eucalyptus.

These essential oils work miracles for me. They break up my blocked sinuses quickly, and give me relief fast. I love that it’s natural, so I don’t have to keep taking pain killers.

I have also been known to use an essential oil inhaler (click the link to see what it is) to help with sinus issues. These inhalers are cheap, but it allows you to carry your essential oils with you in your pocket, and no one needs to know. Hey! I won’t tell anyone.

  • I use essential oils for tired achy muscles

Using an essential oil blend that’s designed for muscle soreness is also another way that I have added essential oils into my life. After a long day, a gentle massage with an essential oil blend makes all the difference in the world.

You can use other products. Sure. I’m not going to judge you, but essential oils benefit the skin and are absorbed into your body.

Always make sure that you dilute your essential oils, or use massage oil that’s already diluted. Just make sure that if you use massage oil that it has 100% pure essential oils and not synthetics.

  • I use the essential oils to deodorize my office

In my office, you’ll find a diffuser. I use this diffuser every day to clean the air, disinfect, and deodorize my office.

It’s simple to do and not that expensive. Purchase a diffuser from Amazon (this is the one that I purchased here), and add a couple of drops of lemon. The diffuser will diffuse the lemon into the air and make your office smell enjoyable. It will take away any odors that may be lingering around, and kill bacteria that cause colds and flus.

You need to do this. I think that it’s a great way to implement essential oils into your life each day.

  • I make an essential oil anti-stress blend

Stress is a killer in our world. I know because it was stress that messed me up. We have to do our best to remove stress from our lives, or deal with it properly.

Using aromatherapy to calm the body and mind is a great way to fight off stress. It’s a proven fact that scents can calm us down.

Walk into a room where you recognize a scent which causes you to recollect a memory, and you’re automatically relaxed.

Use some lemon, orange, and frankincense into a diffuser for a beautiful manly, calming scent.

My Top Essential Oils For Men

There are so many ways that a man can use essential oils in their life that it’s hard to name them all. I have just mentioned a few, but trust me, there are hundreds more.

Below are my favorite essential oils and why. These are the oils that I always have on hand and use the most.

Copaiba Balsam Essential Oil

A very woodsy, rustic essential oil. I usually use this oil diluted in jojoba oil for a homemade aftershave. It’s also an excellent oil to add to homemade shaving cream.

It’s a soft base note that has a small hint of sweetness. I like to blend copaiba essential oil with Sandalwood or Frankincense.

Essential oils calm men down and stabilize his mood.

Copaiba oil has a ton of health benefits as well. It’s known for its anti-inflammatory properties, and has been used for killing pain.

Vetiver Essential Oil

The vetiver root has been used in scents for years. Try adding one drop of vetiver oil with five drops of sandalwood EO, one drop of vanilla oleoresin, 5 drops lime EO, three drops nutmeg EO, and five drops of grapefruit essential oil. This blend makes a great cologne that you need to try. By the way, EO stands for essential oil.

Peppermint Essential Oil

There are so many great uses for peppermint that it’s hard not to have a bottle of this on hand. If you suffer from headaches, then it’s a must. I also use it in my office during the holidays.

Spruce and Cedarwood Essential Oil

These essential oils go without any explanation. Both of these oils have a soft base smell with a very woodsy thrust. These oils mix well with Pine, Galbanum, Benzoin, Lavender, and Rosemary Eo’s.

Use these oils in an aftershave, create a blend for diffusing in your office or a little on your neck to give you a real manly tone.
